TOUGH SUNDAY FOR THE SPEED UP TEAM AT THE GRAN PREMIO DE ARAGÓN

Not a positive day for the Speed Up team which must accept a bitter conclusion to what could and should have been a redemption Sunday for Jorge Navarro after the crash on French soil and confirmation of an excellent weekend for Fabio Di Giannantonio. A good start and a superlative first part of the race for Diggia until turn number two on lap 11 when he crashed down from p1, closing in advance what could have been his first Moto2 victory. Also for Jorge the race ended earlier, just a few meters after the start when he crashed to the ground after making contact with another rider. Fortunately, both Speed Up riders came out unscathed from their crashes. The next race is already upon us. The twelfth round of the 2020 Moto2 World Championship is scheduled for next weekend once again at Motorland Aragón.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO#21 – DNF
“Everything was perfect, the strategy was to go up front and impose my pace because in the first two sectors I was definitely going faster and I wanted to make a difference there. Too bad I made the mistake, I went wide and the bike closed in front of the 2nd wasted such an opportunity, I’m so sorry but I tried. A little bitter taste in the mouth but head held high because we are there, and we are fast and we have another race here at Motorland to prove it!”.

JORGE NAVARRO#9 – DNF
“I’m not sure what to say, the truth is that today I felt ready to do a good race. In the warm up we had the confirmation that today we could fight for the podium, but the hope went out at the first corner when I came into contact with a rider who had gone wide and then getting back on the line, he touched my front wheel and so I crashed. I feel lucky because today it could have ended very badly and I thank God I’m fine. Other riders managed to dodge me and so in the end I am happy to be well. Back in the pits, the mechanics repaired the bike and I went back to the track for another 17 laps to understand our level and, without risking too much, my race pace was that of the leaders. This certainly makes me angry but at the same time it gives me the right energy for the next race, always here at Motorland!”.
