DIGGIA SEVENTH IN THE GRAND PRIX DE FRANCE. NAVARRO CRASHES DOWN AT LAP 19

The Speed Up team leaves France and the Bugatti circuit of Le Mans with a seventh place for Fabio Di Giannantonio and Jorge Navarro’s crash just a few laps from the end of the French Grand Prix race. The rain affected the French Sunday. Arrived on the grid after the sighting lap, the Speed Up riders decided to change the rain tires with the slicks more suitable for the mixed conditions of the track at that time. To say the least, Fabio’s race is remarkable closing a complicated weekend in the best possible way, which began with the bad crash in FP1 in which he suffered a sprained left ankle. From eleventh position on the grid, Fabio started well, recovering two positions immediately. On lap eight, Fabio reached p7 which he held tightly to the finish with determination. Not an easy day for Jorge Navarro, forced to complete 2 long laps in the race due to a crash with a yellow flag reported yesterday during qualifying. From p18 Jorge made a good start but after having made the two long laps in the first laps he found himself fighting among the last positions. He was able to recover up to p19 but with less than seven laps to go he crashed down without serious consequences. Moto2 does not stop and flies to Spain for the Aragón Grand Prix 16/17/18 October.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO#21 – 7th
“I’m very happy with today’s race because after the crash on Friday, after missing the whole FP2 round and after being late in setting up, we were still fast even if I wasn’t 100% physically. A strange race for the mixed conditions of the track. At first I believed it, I thought I could stay there but I raced with the wet set-up and I couldn’t push harder. I’m happy for another positive weekend. Let’s go to Aragon, excited, aiming for the podium!”.

JORGE NAVARRO#9 – DNF
“The truth is that today has not been our day since the race started with the uncertainty that it would rain or that the track would not dry. I had to do the two long laps and there the track was much wetter and so I lost a lot more time than I should have lost. Anyway, I didn’t feel very comfortable with the bike in these conditions. I tried to see it as a test, because I knew it would be difficult to score points. I gave it my all, but on turn 3 on lap 19 I lost the front and fell to the ground. I’m so sorry, I’m really disappointed. We will analyze the data well to understand how to solve our problems from the next GP”.
